Dear Festers and Friends,

MSF Prep Weekends Need Your Help!

The Pre Weekends are an opportunity to help maintain and improve the Midsummerfest site (which costs about $6000/year to maintain). They provide good exercise, good company, and the satisfaction of helping out MSF, plus you get a discount on your registration. (Students can get an additional discount on their registration if they help out on a Work Weekend.) They're also a great way for newcomers to check out the Hundred Aker Wood (as well as a few of its denizens) to get an idea of whether MSF will be to their taste. People who help on Work Weekends will get first choice of tent-sites and Work Weekend food will be paid for. There will be downtime to enjoy the trails and ponds as well.

Previous Prep Weekends have included clearing out the areas around the ponds, building the outhouse, laying drainage pipe, fixing winter and machinery damage, and a host of maintenance chores.

This year the main areas of focus will be clearing trails and sprucing up the area around the Upper Pond, Deck, Dock, Raft.

If time and money permit, more fun projects can be scheduled. Contact me if you want to suggest anything. (Painting a mural on the outhouse?  Building a noise-reducing generator enclosure?  Designing and building a new deck for the upper pond?  Devising a rope swing for one of the ponds?

The following weekends remain.  I'd love to get 2 or 3 weekend scheduled with at least 4 people on each weekend.

Odds & Ends	6/22-23:Jason cleared sticks & debris from road; Chris & Wil brought up Chruch pews; Ian, Anne, Sally, Chris, Chris & Wil hauled them in to barn; 6/29-30: Ian moved gravel down to the lower pond outlet; Ian & Wil raked it smooth; Ian, Anne & Joceline raked the disturbed gravel in front of the barn; Wil raked the divots in the road left from the machinery. Chris & Ian worked on the deck of the Shack; Chris, Wil & Gavin worked on the Dock of the Shack. Wil build a fireplace at the Shack. 7/6-7: Ian & Jason erected 3 standing stones 7/6-7: Sarah fixed the screen door on the 1st floor of the cabin 7/13-14: Jacqeuline & Ian replaced two barrels on the upper raft & anchored the raft in the middle of the pond 7/13-14: Anne, Jacqueline & Ian cleared brush & scrap wood from the central area and put a new top on the picnic table		Stabilize dock on lower pond; fix road; put new top on deck table; add rain barrel under gutter;
