About Emails:
Most large religious web sites, like the Vatican, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) and Focus on the Family solve the problem of incoming E-mails very simply. They keep their E-mail address secret.
Ours is also a very large web site (270,000 unique visitors a week; 900,000 page downloads a week, 45 Gbytes traffic a week). We do publish our address, and thus are swamped with incoming E-mails.
We would enjoy entering into extended Email exchanges with our visitors. We would like to reply to all incoming Emails. We would like to read all incoming Emails. However, time simply does not permit this. We read many Emails. However, we are able to respond to very few.
We are trying to improve our finances to the point where we could hire a part-time staff member -- our first -- to handle much of the administrative load. This would free up time so that we could reply to more E-mails. But an employee would be a major expense. We are asking visitors to our web site who believe in the message that we are disseminating to join our "300 club" and donate a small amount of money each month via credit card or PayPal.

Emails we try to respond to:
We are budgeting 2 hours a day to respond to Emails. This is a fairly large chunk of the total time available from our five volunteers. We will give first priority to:

Please go here to send us an Email on one of these topics. This will automatically insert the word "CRISIS," "ERROR," "BANNER AD," "ESSAY," or "CD PURCHASE" as the subject of your Email. Since we generally get over 200 Emails a day (this morning we received 589!) we normally only open those Emails with one of the above subjects.
We regret that we are unable to respond to other Emails. However, we will try to at least read a few other incoming messages, even if we cannot reply. You may wish to request a "read receipt" when you send us an Email. That will at least confirm that we have read it. In Outlook Express, this option is available in the Tools pull-down menu.

We are a very unusual type of religious web site. We don't promote a particular religious viewpoint. Instead, we report the full range of religious beliefs in North America: from the most conservative to the most liberal. This means that you are certain to see material in our essays that will be heretical by your standards, whether you are a liberal or conservative. |
| Destructively hack in to our web site. This has been a chronic problem for many years now. The criminal's latest technique is to simply delete files from our web site. To date, these have all been files which discuss abortion access, equal rights for gays and lesbians, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Apparently the abusive hacker(s) finds what we write on these particular topics to be objectionable. He or she doesn't want you to have access to them. |
